Learning & Development Specialist
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking an experienced Learning & Development Specialist responsible for designing, delivering, and continuously improving learning and development initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, productivity, and organizational capability. This position requires strong instructional design and facilitation expertise, the ability to coordinate complex programs, and to continuously improve the quality and impact of VEDP’s internal learning portfolio.Responsibilities:Design, develop, and implement training and education programs, informed by needs assessment and organizational prioritiesBuild and refine existing learning content to improve relevance, engagement, and effectiveness over time using multiple delivery methods, including instructor-led and e-learningIdentify and implement opportunities to leverage technology, visual design, and innovative approaches when designing and delivering learning experiencesDesign and implement clear, compelling talent-related communications that promote learning opportunities and reinforce key messagesFacilitate engaging, high-quality learning sessions aligned with VEDP’s culture, values, performance standards, and leadership expectationsDesign and deliver group learning activities that reinforce learning objectives and promote application on the jobAdapt facilitation approaches in real time to meet the needs of diverse learners and optimize engagementDesign and support program evaluation approaches that measure participation, satisfaction, and learning effectivenessSkills: Strong knowledge of adult learning principlesStrong facilitation and presentation skills, with confidence engaging groups of employeesDemonstrated visual and conceptual design capability applied to learning materials (e.g., PowerPoint or similar tools) and communicationsExcellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling learning experiencesStrong program evaluation and development capability with a systems-oriented mindsetHighly collaborative, service-oriented, and stakeholder-focused with a passion for talent development and organizational effectivenessStrong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives autonomouslyResourceful and comfortable working with evolving or incomplete informationExperience:3+ years’ experience in talent development, instructional design, or facilitationExperience supporting organization-wide learning and leadership development programs with change management principlesDemonstrated experience designing and delivering learning programs using multiple delivery methods (instructor-led, e-learning, blended)Being authorized to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment.
