Department: Academics/Office of Career & Professional Development Supervisor: Director of Career & Professional Development
- Hours per week: 20 hours a week
- Stipend/Benefits: Tuition Waived up to 24 credits & a $1000 stipend for the academic year.
Role Summary The Graduate Assistant will provide administrative support to the Office of Career & Professional Development. This role is designed to provide the student with professional experience in a higher education setting while supporting the operational goals of the department. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can balance their academic workload with the following responsibilities:
- Coordinate programs, activities, and fairs sponsored by the Office
- Market and coordinate communication-related to all programming
- Approved jobs and internships posted on Handshake
- Assist with administrative tasks
- Help produce promotional materials, such as flyers, brochures, social media content
- Highly professional and willing to take the initiative
- Provide quality customer service skills when interacting with organizations and
- corporations
Qualifications Eligibility & Requirements
- Enrollment: Must be currently accepted in a Master program at Albertus Magnus College in one of the following areas:
- Accounting (only two spots available)
- Business Administration
- Criminal Justice
- Management and Organizational Leadership
- Healthcare Administration (only two spots available)
- Skills:
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace
- Comfortable using various social media channels
- Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to prioritize and complete tasks promptly
- Able to adapt to change and work both independently and as a team member
- Solid computer skills and willingness to learn new technologies
- Ability to multitask and work gracefully under pressure
- Basic understanding of Handshake and Excel
Learning Outcomes (The "Value Add")

- Understand career development theories (e.g., Super's Life-Span, Life-Space Theory, Holland's Theory of Career Choice)
- Learn job search strategies, resume writing, and interviewing techniques

- Plan and organize workshops
- Assist in organizing events like career fairs or employer panels

- Use career management platforms (e.g., Handshake)
- Track student engagement and outcomes using data systems
- Analyze basic data to inform programming decisions

- Understand office operations, confidentiality, and ethical standards (e.g., National Association of Colleges and Employers competencies)
8. Assessment & Reflection
- Reflect on personal growth and experiences
- Set professional development goals
- Use feedback from supervisors to improve performance
